This GPS is just incredible. All the courses available are free, nothing, nada when you register. Thank God for that! Once you purchase this unit, that is it. No additional cost. The price of this GPS has come down considerably since its release as well. The early adopters payed $479 for this unit. You can now get this unit from $399 via OnPar website which includes a free belt clip, car charger and temporary cart mount. Very good deal. You can also get just the unit for anywhere between $350-370 on Amazon. I personally purchased mine on EBay for $277.00 brand new in its original packaging, never been used. Just finished 1st round with my new G3. It took about 5 minutes for it to get a GPS signal the first time, but performed like a champ once it did. The scorecard feature is great and really easy to use. I stood on the red, 100 yard marker in the middle of the fairway on 3 holes and each time it read from 99 to 101. 1% margin of error is better than I experienced with my old skycaddie. The touch screen was calibrated perfectly. I had no trouble with the cursor. Using rechargeable duracells, it shows about 60% power remaining after 18 holes. A friend recommended this GPS so I gave it a try. I am a previous user of a sky caddie 4. I rarely used my sky caddie because I would forget to download the course ahead of time and I often had trouble getting a satelite fix. This GPS gives the perfect amount of information for the everyday golfer, and even for more advanced players. It is easy to use and set up. I love the fact that I can dowload up to 100 courses, and I don’t have to renew my membership each year unless I need a different course. One of the things I really like, is that you can see how far you actually hit the ball (I’m sure all GPS systems are like that…but NOT rangefinders!) My son and I used this on a local course for the first time and it performed great. No more looking for markers or taking the time to walk off an estimate (er, OK – especially when I’m not in the fairway). We have some large greens thankfully and being able to simply move the flag on the device for a much more accurate reading is super. Also, those few great drives I had – the G5 made it simple to get the exact yardage (did not break any records though).
